There are two sets of internal examinations per year held at the end of each of our two semesters. These examinations are for Years 3-8.These examinations are required by the Ministry of Education and form part of our tracking and monitoring system.
Students will be given revision lessons and notes by their subject teacher during the build up to the examination period but parents are responsible for ensuring that their child revises at home.
The examination marks forms the main basis for the overall end of year grade on the report card and consequently the examinations must be taken seriously. It is possible in Cyprus for students to fail the year and have to retake it if they do not reach the expected standard.
Students in Year 5 will sit placing papers in May for the American College and there is an opportunity for the most able students to sit for academic scholarships.
Students for whom English is a Foreign Language may sit for Cambridge University’s Starters, Movers and Flyers examinations. Parents are responsible for the entrance fees for these examinations and the cost of the Pupil work books. The courses will be offered after school as a club.
